Kathmandu, Nepal – Nepal faces a significant challenge in meeting its ambitious target of 1.6 million tourists for 2024. Despite a strong start, with 583,016 tourists arriving from January to June, the current monthly average of 96,169 falls short of the Nepal Tourism Board’s target of 133,333.

Finance Minister Barsaman Pun acknowledged the difficulty, emphasizing the need for improvements to achieve the annual goal. In 2023, Nepal successfully met its target of 1 million tourists, prompting the government to set a higher target for 2024, backed by new budgets and policies.

To bridge the gap, the government and the tourism board are focusing on enhancing visitor experiences, improving infrastructure, and promoting Nepal’s cultural and natural attractions.
