Foreign companies that do not provide services as per the agreement will be blacklisted
Kathmandu. Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna kumar shrestha has said that companies that do not provide services to Nepalis who have gone for foreign employment as per the agreement will be blacklisted.During a meeting with foreign returnees at the Ministry on Monday, Minister shrestha said that companies that do not provide services as per the agreement will be blacklisted and workers will not be sent to those companies.
People returning from foreign employment had complained that they had lost their jobs due to the Corona epidemic and had not received the remaining wages.
He said that he did not get work and salary as per the agreement, did not get treatment when he was ill and had to collect donations when he had to return to Nepal. They also complained that they suffered in foreign lands due to lack of skills and did not get the same facilities as the workers of other countries. According to the youths, the illegal domestic workers have to work for low wages and are victims of violence.Due to lack of employment in the country, the youths have migrated abroad in search of work
According to the Department of Foreign Employment, 35,000 to 40,000 youths have recently gone to Malaysia and Gulf countries for foreign employment. Before the covid 19 epidemic, 40,000 youths used to go abroad every month. In the last four months (July to mid-November) 1.5 million youths have taken labor permit to go for foreign employment.
54,918 in October (50,623 males / 4,295 females), 39,671 in September (37,208 males / 2,463 females), 36,040 in August According to the department, 34,218 males / 1,822 females and 25,428 males (24,290 males / 1,138 females) have obtained labor permits to go for foreign employment. .According to the department, the number of youths seeking employment through manpower is higher. Officials of the department say that the number of youths seeking work permit through manpower has increased as the manpower will facilitate them to go abroad. Similarly, the number of youths returning from abroad is found to be increasing even after getting the labor permit again and the number is also remarkable.
Minister Shrestha has shown readiness to manage foreign employment. He emphasized on the implementation of agreements reached between Nepal and other countries in the field of labor, fair wages and ensuring security. The event was also attended by people returning from foreign employment as well as representatives of organizations working on behalf of migrant workers
Speaking on the occasion, Minister shrestha said that the government has a plan to reunite the workers returning from foreign employment, social and economic empowerment.
