Simkot: Transportation of food grains of Food Management and Trade Limited Company has been resumed for Humla, a Himalayan district facing food crisis. Sita Air has resumed shipment from Nepalgunj eight days after the suspension.
Krishna Prasad Adhikari, head of Humla branch of the company, informed that Simrik Cargo Air Pvt.Aircargo, which was in charge of the transport, was delayed in handing over only Sita Airlines to the private airlines. He said that the branch has referred to Sita Air, which is in charge of the daily food transportation, adding that it has just started.
Earlier, Sita’s ship returned to Kathmandu after transporting food grains for only four days. Sita Air Simkot’s in-charge Chhepel Lama said that more than 96 quintals of food grains were transported from eight flights. He said that food grains would be transported regularly as one of the ships would be stationed in Nepalganj now.
Except Sita Air, no one else has been given the responsibility of transportation. Only 37 quintals had been transported from Surkhet and 138 quintals from Nepalgunj since November 30.
For this year, Sita Air was assigned to transport 4,000 quintals from Nepalgunj at Rs 108 per kg and 6,000 quintals from Surkhet at Rs 105 per kg. The branch has stated that the distribution of food grains will be started when there are stocks so that the food grains cannot be sold due to lack of food grains required for distribution.
