Vaccination in Confusion, Nepalese People Waiting

Inadequate vaccination against corona has added to the confusion. There is further confusion after the Serum Institute, which produces Covid Shield, said that it could not give 1 million vaccines immediately.

The first dose was given to 900,000 senior citizens above 65 years of age. The Ministry of Health has stated that the second dose cannot be given to senior citizens above 65 years of age immediately.

According to vaccinators, the second dose should be given within 8 to 12 weeks of applying the first dose of Covid Shield. Thus, the second dose should be applied by the third week of May. However, the vaccine has not yet been vaccinated. Currently, Covid Shield and Verosel vaccines are in use in Nepal.

The Ministry of Health had projected that an estimated 217.56 million people would be vaccinated. The problem has arisen in Nepal after the Indian vaccine manufacturer Serum Institute indicated that it will not export vaccines immediately.
