Nishan Polyclinic Pvt. Ltd., Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, has contributed Rs. 4 Lakh to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support communities affected by the devastating floods in Rasuwa and other areas.

Representatives of Nishan Polyclinic visited the Ministry of Finance and handed over the contribution to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle as part of the ongoing efforts to provide relief and support to people affected by the disaster.

The contribution was made through the collective support of the doctors, employees and management of Nishan Polyclinic. Senior medical professionals associated with the institution, including Senior Cardiologist Dr. Man Bahadur KC and Senior Dermatologist Dr. Anil Kumar Das, also made significant individual contributions to the relief effort.

Celebration Budget Redirected to Disaster Relief

The contribution came after Nishan Polyclinic decided to redirect funds originally allocated for its annual Teej programme and employee gifts toward disaster relief.

According to the institution, the organization had initially set aside a budget for celebrating Teej and providing gifts to its employees. However, after witnessing the devastating impact of the floods in Rasuwa, employees collectively approached the management with a proposal to cancel the planned celebration and gifts and use the allocated funds to support flood victims instead.

The proposal received support from the doctors and management. As a result, the amount originally intended for an internal celebration was transformed into a collective contribution to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

The decision brought together employees, doctors and management, with each contributing in their respective capacities. The institution said the initiative reflected the collective sense of responsibility and solidarity of its members toward communities facing hardship following the natural disaster.

From a Small Pharmacy to a Growing Healthcare Institution

Nishan Polyclinic has a history spanning more than three decades. Its journey began in 2051 B.S. when Chairman Rajan Hari Dahal established a small pharmacy to serve the local community.

As the healthcare needs of the community increased, the organization gradually expanded its services. It began providing outpatient consultation services, with experienced medical professionals joining its journey. Among them were senior doctors such as Dr. Man Bahadur KC, Dr. Anil Kumar Das and other healthcare professionals.

The institution later introduced laboratory services and continued expanding its healthcare facilities. Nishan Polyclinic was formally established in 2068 B.S., marking another significant step in its development.

Over the years, the organization has expanded its medical team and services to cover a wide range of specialties. Its team includes specialists in cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, urology, orthopedics, neuropsychiatry, ophthalmology, gynecology, pediatrics, ENT, pulmonology, internal medicine, rheumatology, radiology and various surgical specialties.

Today, Nishan Polyclinic provides clinic and outpatient department (OPD) services along with pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiology, laboratory and other healthcare facilities. The institution says it continues to build on the foundation established more than three decades ago when it started as a small pharmacy.

Healthcare with a Focus on Service

Chairman Rajan Hari Dahal says the growth of Nishan Polyclinic has always been closely connected with its commitment to patient care and service.

“From the beginning, we have emphasized that healthcare should focus not only on profit margins but also on providing services that can help people recover and improve their health,” Dahal said.

He added that the institution’s primary objective is to ensure that every patient visiting Nishan Polyclinic receives appropriate treatment, necessary healthcare services and proper advice before leaving the facility.

According to Dahal, the trust and satisfaction shown by patients over the years have been an important reflection of the institution’s commitment to service.

The organization has also remained largely family-run, with different members of the Dahal family taking responsibility for various areas of its operation. The collective involvement of family members has remained an important part of Nishan Polyclinic’s foundation and continued growth.

The recent contribution to the disaster relief fund is another example of the institution’s emphasis on social responsibility. By giving up its planned Teej celebration and employee gifts and redirecting the budget toward flood relief, Nishan Polyclinic said it wanted to stand with families affected by the Rasuwa floods during a difficult period.

The institution believes that healthcare organizations have responsibilities that extend beyond providing medical treatment. Through its relief contribution and continued healthcare services, Nishan Polyclinic aims to contribute to both the well-being of individuals and the wider community.
