Two arrested for smuggling sandalwood oil
Police have arrested two persons for illegally trading in sandalwood oil. Among the arrested are Ram Hadur Khatri, 27, of Balaju, Kathmandu, and Ramechhap Umakund, 4, and Ganga Bahadur, 40, of Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.A team of the Metropolitan Crime Branch arrested them from near the Panchkumari Temple in Budhanilkantha Municipality-5 of Kathmandu. Police have also recovered 44 liters of blood sandalwood oil from them.
The police team was mobilized on the basis of information that they were selling red sandalwood oil at the rate of Rs 500,000 per liter.
Both the arrested persons have been sent to the Forest Division Office for necessary action. They had brought oil from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu. They were preparing to smuggle it from India to China.
