The price of cooking oil has risen again in the market, why does it rise frequently ?

The Nepal Retail Trade Association has stated that the prices of all types of cooking oil have gone up again despite being stable for some time. According to traders, producers have increased prices of sunflower, soybean and mustard oil saying that the cost price has started going up. By December last year, prices had doubled. After November, the price had dropped to Rs 200 per cartoon. But in a week’s time, the price of edible oil has gone up by more than Rs 100 per cartoon, according to the association. According to the Nepal Retail Trade Association, the price of cooking oil has gone up by Rs 2 to Rs 35 per liter in the last one week alone.

Sandeep Kumar Agrawal, president of the Association of Vegetable Ghee-Oil Producers, said that the main reason for the rise in oil prices is the high growth of raw materials used in oil production.

Oil producers have been saying that the rise in prices is due to the rise in the price of crude oil in the international market.

The price of edible oil has been gradually rising, hurting the consumers. But the authority to monitor the market is silent.

It has been one year since the price of oil rose sharply in the market. Meanwhile, the monitoring body, the Department of Industry and Commerce, once monitored the rise in oil prices.
