The Maoist center will increase the number of office bearers

The CPN-Maoist is planning to increase the number of party officials to 15.

A meeting of the party’s central committee held at the party’s central office Paris Danda on Sunday decided to take the proposal to increase the number of office bearers to the general convention.

According to UCPN-M spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, a proposal has been put forward to add 10 out of the current five office bearers. The UCPN-M has nine members in the provincial committee. Thus, a 15-member office is being formed at the Maoist center. Today’s central committee meeting has decided to move ahead with the proposal to make 15 office bearers, ‘said Mahara. According to Mahara, if the proposal is passed, the Maoists will now have one chairman, seven vice-chairmen including the senior vice-chairman, one general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, three secretaries and one treasurer.

The UCPN (M) is now practicing like the UML. Thirteen office bearers were elected from the ninth general convention of the CPN-UML.

But the first assembly general convention held last September had reduced the number of office bearers to 15. After that, in the tenth general convention held in Chitwan, this number has been increased to 19.
