The budget of 35 municipalities of Lumbini has not been passed yet due to disputes at the local level

Butwal: The 35 local levels of Lumbini province, which made public the budget for the fiscal year 2079/80 BS on July  have not been able to pass the budget yet due to disputes. Out of 109 municipalities in Lumbini, 35 municipalities have not been able to pass the budget even by the end of July.

There are seven local levels in Bank that are most unable to pass the budget. Similarly, six municipalities in Rupandehi, five in Kapilvastu, four each in Palpa and Dang, two each in Rolpa and Bardiya, one each in Nawalparasi, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi and Rukum East have not been able to pass the budget.

Six municipalities of the district, including the municipality of Tilotta in Rupandehi, have not been able to pass the budget for the fiscal year 2079/80 BS. Even though the budget was presented in the Municipal Council on July 10 the municipalities have not been able to pass the budget on time due to internal disputes. The municipality was affected after a dispute arose in Tilotta over the scope and rate of tax change. Even though the budget was brought by hasty agreement, it could not be passed.

However, after resolving all the issues, the date for passing the budget has been fixed on July 31 said Municipal Executive Member Surendra Shree. An executive meeting was also held on Tuesday to reach an agreement on the budget. Similarly, Lumbini Cultural Municipality has not passed the budget yet. Mayor Sajaruddin Musalman admitted that there was no dispute over the budget, but it was too late to pass.

He said that the budget is planned to be passed within 30 july The budget has not been passed in Mayadevi village municipality of the district. Village Municipality Chairman Dhruv Narayan Chaudhary said that it was stopped due to lack of consensus on budget distribution. He said that an internal discussion and executive meeting will be held soon to pass the budget.
