Second vaccine dose to administrate after 56 days

KATHMANDU, February 17-

The COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee has suggested the government to provide a second dose of coronavirus vaccine only after 56 days from the first vaccination.

After World Health Organization (WHO) suggestion, the committee proposed to administrate  a second dose of vaccine after 8 to 12 weeks from the first jab.

The government had earlier decided to administer the second dose after 28 days from the first jab. However, the second dose of vaccine will be given only after 56 days from the first jab.

Dr. Shyamraj Uprety,Coordinator of the Technical Committee, said that it has been found through a study that antibody formation will be more effective if the second jab is administrated much later.
