Proposal to nominate 10 percent central members

In the draft constitution presented at the closed session of the eighth general convention of the CPN-Maoist, a provision has been proposed to nominate 10 percent of the central members.

In the closed session held at Pragya Bhawan in Kamaladi, standing committee member Dev Gurung presented the draft constitution and proposed to nominate 10 percent members in the central committee. Gurung presented the draft constitution after chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda presented his ideological and political report.

The party’s central committee will have 299 members. Provision of chairperson, senior vice chairperson, 6 vice chairpersons, general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, three secretaries and treasurer has been proposed in the constitution. While presenting the draft, Gurung informed that the office bearers will be made inclusive. The General Convention will select 299 central members including 15 office bearers.
