Oli said that the commission should not consider ‘human rights’ as pure and impure

Chairman of the main opposition party CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has remarked that the National Human Rights Commission should not consider human rights as pure and impure. President Oli also warned the National Human Rights Commission not to fall into such delusion, arguing that human rights are not pure and impure and partial and complete. Expressing dissatisfaction over the absence of any member of the Human Rights Commission on the occasion of its 23rd founding day organized by the Human Rights Alliance on Wednesday, he challenged not to mistake himself as a holy human rights activist and us human rights violators. Oli claimed that he had never violated human rights in his 57 years of political life, even when he was in charge of a ministry like the Ministry of Home Affairs. He expressed his commitment that he has not violated human rights so far and will continue to do so. He said, “As the Home Minister, I have taken over the ministry which should have the same control as the Home Ministry.” And, I think foreign countries are in their place. I have also taken care of the Prime Minister. This includes all ministries from defense to home. I can claim that these 57 years of my struggle have been for human rights. My fight is for human rights. And, what I will say next is that I have been in charge of the home ministry and the prime minister, because I have not violated human rights so far. “I have not violated human rights,” he said. Therefore, it is a mistake for a human rights activist to think that he is a human rights violator by thinking that he has been washed with holy gold water and sprinkled with water. Therefore, not all the honorable members of the Human Rights Commission had to come, but some had to come. “If this alliance is active in the field of human rights, they should have considered it as an ally, not an isolated one. Why didn’t they come now? This is my guess. I can’t even say for sure. Do you think that human rights are not pure human rights? Pure human rights are not happening. Human rights are human rights, they are not being defiled. Therefore, the notion that human rights are pure and impure, partial and complete is an illusion, not a correct one.
