Ministry of Health urges not to travel abroad unless absolutely necessary

The Ministry of Health and Population has requested not to travel abroad unless absolutely necessary. The ministry has urged not to travel abroad to prevent the infection from entering Nepal as the Omicron variant (B1.1.529), which has recently been identified in African countries, is spreading rapidly in some countries in South Africa and Asia.

The World Health Organization has also declared this variant as a global variant of concern. However, the ministry has stated that the variant has not been found in Nepal so far. A statement issued by the ministry said, “This is the reason why the ministry and the concerned agencies are working together to prevent this variant from entering Nepal in time and to keep the life of the people normal.The Omicron variant of covid-19 has been shown to be more contagious and affect people of all age groups. Therefore, the ministry appeals to all to be vigilant and responsible to prevent the infection and to adhere to the standards of public health.
