Men and women are not allowed to study together as Taliwan brought new rule

The country’s new higher education minister, Abdul Baki Haqqani, told a news conference that co-education would not be allowed in the country. Haqqanis said that although women are allowed to study, they are not allowed to study with men.

During the Taliban regime between 1996 and 2001, women and girls were banned from going to school and university in Afghanistan.

The new policy is very different from the education policy before the Taliban took over Afghanistan.

Earlier, co-education was allowed in the country’s universities where men and women were allowed to study together and female students were not required to follow a dress code.

The announcement came a day after the Taliban announced a new higher education policy at the country’s presidential palace.

Meanwhile, Qatari media outlet Al Jazeera said Monday a Pakistan Airlines commercial flight had landed in Afghanistan for the first time since the Taliban’s capture.

After the Taliban took control of Kabul on August 15, the US military took control of Kabul International Airport until August 31. The airport is under Taliban control after the US troops returned.
