In a period of a week, 770 Nepalis returned home from Afganistan
Various countries are taking back their citizens from Afghanistan. The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that the process of repatriation of Nepali citizen is continuing due to the complicated situation in Afghanistan.
According to the ministry, a total of 770 Nepali nationals have returned home in a period of one week. Nepali citizens have started returning home from Bhadra first.
Returning Nepalis have come through chartered and regular flights. Arrangements have been made by the Nepal Army in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs to take the Nepali nationals who came to Kathmandu from Afghanistan to the Holding Center and send them home after completing the Covid-19 test and other procedures.
Arrangement has been made to register online on the website of the Department of Consular Services to collect the details of Nepali citizens in Afghanistan for the purpose of coordination and rescue by ensuring the material condition of Nepalis in Afghanistan for employment. The person or family concerned is requested to register online by mentioning the details including their name.
As per the arrangement made for Nepali citizens in Afghanistan to register their details, 361 Nepalis have registered on the web portal till Monday evening.
No one has the exact number of Nepalis in Afghanistan. The number of people arriving in Afghanistan from the informal sector is also said to be large, but no one has the statistics.
