Following the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River area, some roads in the affected districts have resumed operation, although major highways remain blocked. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged travelers who do not require emergency helicopter evacuation to use the available alternative road networks.
According to the authority, several diversion routes have been identified and opened to facilitate movement, particularly for people traveling to Rasuwa. Officials emphasized that these routes are intended to ensure continued access to affected regions while restoration work continues on the main highways.
For travelers heading to Rasuwa, vehicles can currently use the route connecting Bidur, Dhikure, Chaughada, Apra, Narja, Lachyang, Sarmathale, Patikhark, and Bogatitar, which links with the Pasang Lhamu Highway. From there, travelers can proceed through Kalikasthan to reach Dhunche. Authorities confirmed that four-wheeled vehicles are operating along this alternative corridor, providing an important transportation link for residents and essential travel.
In contrast, the situation in Dhading remains more challenging. The district’s previously designated alternative route has become impassable due to fresh damage caused by road subsidence. The route, which connected Dhadingbesi, Parewatar, Nepaltar, Gajuritar, Adamtar, Belintar, and Keurinitar before reaching Mastar on the Prithvi Highway, has been closed after a section of road collapsed at Parewatar.
As a result, traffic movement has been completely halted in both directions along this route. Authorities stated that no new alternative route has yet been finalized for Dhading, and efforts are underway to assess road conditions and identify a safe replacement corridor.
The NDRRMA has advised the public to stay updated through official channels, avoid unnecessary travel in flood-affected areas, and follow instructions issued by local authorities. Road repair and recovery operations are continuing, with teams working to restore connectivity as quickly and safely as possible.
