A worker died in the Arun project

An Indian worker at the Arun III Hydropower Project has died. The deceased has been identified as Mugerilal Singh, 45, of Madhya Pradesh, India.

He had been working on the 900 MW Arun III Hydropower Project under construction at Audit 3 in Chichila Gaonpalika-3, Solakhani of Sankhuwasabha.Singh was injured when a stone hit him while he was working inside the tunnel last night. He died at the district hospital while undergoing treatment. DSP Lal Dhwaj Subedi informed that further investigation is underway into the incident.

Other workers have complained that they were forced to work in hazardous conditions due to non-provision of safety equipment to the workers working inside the tunnel.
