Economic Growth and Food Crisis

Our country’s economy runs on loans, grants and remittances. The leadership rejoices in this and even gives amnesty to criminals. While preparing the row, the government has recently approved a concessional loan of 13.35 billion from the World Bank on the grounds of quality health, and it has also approved a grant of 5.45 billion from Switzerland on the grounds of innovation. The country has been running like this for a long time.

The root problem is that there is no minimum food, shelter and food production in the country. The government has imposed VAT on essential food items and collected a tax of 310 rupees per cylinder as VAT and Stabilization Fund on kitchen LP gas which is not used in South Asia. Due to the imposition of seven types of taxes on other fuels, the cost of transportation has increased and the public is in dire straits. The government predicts economic growth in an ambitious manner, at one time when it was estimating double digits, it was minus, the growth rate.

The weather is not supporting the agricultural production here, there is damage to the agricultural crops due to various reasons, the price of consumer goods has increased, there is more administrative hassle, there is operational delay, there is devaluation of the exchange rate, there is a decrease in productivity, energy is import-oriented and more expensive, pollution is more, Even the impact of climate change. It is certain that the goal of sustainable development of the year 2030 will not be achieved. In a country with a lot of water in the world, there is not only a shortage of drinking water, but also for irrigation, sanitation and malnutrition.

Every year 15,000 children die of cholera and diarrhea due to dirty water. The World Bank is saying that in developing countries, eating habits are changing, calorie consumption is increasing, so by the year 2050, the food currently being produced should increase by 70 percent, but in our country, the trend is not to increase but to decrease. At that time, the world’s population will reach 9 billion, water consumption has increased twice as much as the population growth rate in the twentieth century.

It seems that the economic recession will cause a food crisis in the world. Many countries have started banning the materials they are exporting. India, which is going to have the largest population in the world, has banned the export of goods like wheat, sugar, wheat and semolina. The same problem exists in rice, now all the countries are forced to bear the brunt of the unexpected Russia-Ukraine war.

Agriculturally, we are importing food, the manpower used in agriculture has been poured into the Gulf, returned to the box. It was estimated that the covid-19, which started from Wuhan, China, is bringing recession to the world and after the invention of the vaccine to fight against it and its distribution everywhere, economic prosperity will result. However, soon after the Russia-Ukraine war and again the effects of Corona, the people of the world have been suffering.

Now the economic activity has slowed down, many of our shutters are empty. While the economic growth rate of America is projected to be 5.7 percent for 2021, 2.3 percent for 2022 and only 1 percent for 2023, Nepal has estimated an economic growth rate of 8 percent, sounding unsustainable, while this country is suffering from high debt and trade deficit. There is a shortage in foreign exchange reserves.

While it is estimated that the world inflation rate will reach 8.3 percent for 2022, the UK and USA have seen the highest price increase in the past 40 years, while countries like us with high public debt have been hit harder in terms of strict monetary policy. The problem of hunger in Sudan is serious, even now. Our country is agricultural, but all food comes from outside.

The contribution of agriculture to GDP has decreased. In this way, the contribution of the agricultural sector to the GDP is decreasing, which means that the problem of hunger, unemployment and poverty will increase in the country. The budget has called for the transformation of the agricultural sector, the subsidy has been increased, but the budget assigned to agriculture has returned billions of money in the last year.

There are no jobs in this area, there are many poor people in this area. We are forced to eat rotten, cheap, damaged, expired, old, stale, moldy, uncooked, oil-ghee double-wired and rotten food.

If you check the shops and godowns, it is found that they are suffering from cold, cold, damaged covers, insects, expired medicines. The prices are rising rapidly, the monitoring body is silent, there is no skilled manpower, and all the work is done by the bag of politics. That’s why there is worries about tomorrow, and about the food situation.
