Punish those who sell sugar at high prices

The government has started taking action against those who sell sugar at a high price by creating an artificial shortage. The joint market monitoring team led by the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection on Saturday took action against two shops that charged Rs. 160 per kg by creating an artificial shortage of sugar.

The director of the department, Anandraj Pokharel, informed that since there is enough sugar in the market, action will be taken against those who charge more than 115 rupees per kg of sugar.

He says that there will be no shortage of 6,000 metric tons of sugar purchased from Nepali industrialists and kept by various beverage production companies, which have gone to markets across the country. Director Pokharel said that there is enough sugar in the market and if they charge more under various pretexts, action will be taken.
