Karnali herbs are not sold systematically
Karnali province, which has a lot of potential for herbs, has been pushed back from every point of view of development due to its inability to utilize it. It is clear from various studies that the economic prosperity of Karnali is possible through herbs, even if the herbs produced in Karnali are to be systematically sold and distributed by promoting the cultivation of herbs.
This province is known as the capital of herbs where many types of herbs are produced. Even though the government has declared Karnali as a field of herbs a few years ago, no concrete work has been done to utilize it. However, identification of herb pocket areas, construction of permanent nurseries, prioritization of herb species, production of herb plants and expansion of cultivation have also been done. The forest development master plan also mentions promoting herbs for economic prosperity.
According to botanical experts, Karnali has a good climate and good climate and less human pressure, so herbs are produced in large quantities. 79 types of herbs are exported from here. Although it is estimated that there are 147 types of herbs in Karnali, they have to be taken to Nepalgunj for processing and storage.
Export of herbs as raw material
Most of the herbs here are being exported to foreign countries. According to government statistics, about 12 thousand metric tons of herbs are being exported from Karnali annually. According to Karnali Province Forest Directorate, all those herbs are exported as raw materials without processing.
Govinda Prasad Dahal, director of the state forest directorate, says that Karnali has collected a total of Rs.33.6 million nine thousand 588 revenue for herbs in the financial year 2078/79. There is a saying. The industry has also started exporting the leaves, stems and roots of the herbs available in Karnali to the European market by producing oil using the vaporization method. The 15 milliliter bottles of aromatic oil produced by this industry are now exported to Spain and Japan.
What herbs are exported from Karnali?
Production of many types of herbs It seems that a large amount of herbs are exported from the hilly and Himalayan districts of Karnali. According to the statistics of the Provincial Forest Directorate, out of 79 types of herbs exported from here, Attis, Amalveda, Amla, Allo, Allo Dhago, Alloko Bokra, Karachulthe, Kakarsinge and other herbs are being exported. Similarly, kaulo (bark), black wood grain, black masuli, kutki, kurilo, kurilo root, khirola, githi (bark), guchi mushroom, gujar gano, gudmar, gurans flower, gurjo, gokuldhup, ghodtapre, horse matcha, chiuri , chiraito, chutro-chutro bark, jatamsi, timur, dhatela-dhatelo, dalechuk, dhadelme and other herbs are also exported. Also Ritha, Lokta, Forest Potato, Forest Onion, Forest Garlic, Poison, Vishjar, Vishfage, Shilajit, Sajivan, Satavari, Satuwa, Sat Gate, Common Mushroom, Siltimur, Sugandhwal, Sunpati, Sisnu, Setakchini, White Musuli, Somalta, Slatestone And harrow and other herbs are being exported from Karnali, according to the state forest directorate.
