Action will be taken if somebody brings mobiles of others when returning to Nepal
Those returning to Nepal on Dasain will be confiscated if they bring mobile phones, laptops, gold, etc. According to the Customs Department, due to the increasing trend of misuse of the legal provision that gives exemption only to those who return to Nepal after working abroad with a work permit, the Customs Department is going to take strict measures to discourage it.
It has been said that if passengers bring goods contrary to the law, the goods will be confiscated and they will be fined twice the value and imprisoned. The Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office has issued a warning to take action in accordance with the law if other people’s goods and goods prohibited by law are brought in, apart from personal use goods.
The Customs Department has also requested not to bring other people’s goods and goods prohibited by the law of Nepal, except for personal use goods exempted by law.
In the past, when returning home from different countries, some individuals and groups used to show various temptations at foreign airports to deliver various goods to Nepal’s airport and send them by promising that their people would come to pick them up at the airport.
This year, the customs office, including the airport, was shocked after a quintal of gold was smuggled in under the cover of a motorbike, and warned those returning to the country in advance that illegal goods have been smuggled in under various guises and will be caught.
According to the customs office at the airport, some strangers from the international airports of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia and surrounding areas come to pick up my household belongings, my relatives at the Tribhuvan Airport and lure them by saying that they will pay some money for it, laptop, mobile, gold, They have sent watches etc.
According to the office, people who bring such goods in this way are facing legal action.
