Rising unemployment Problem day by day
Although there are only a small number of job openings in any establishment in the government and private sector, the high number of applications shows that the number of unemployed people in the country has increased. In recent times educated unemployment has increased alarmingly. The number of educated unemployed has increased due to the fact that the country’s education policy has emphasized knowledge and theoretical education more than skill-oriented and entrepreneurial education.
Active manpower being unemployed is not only an obstacle to the development and progress of the country, but it is also a headache for the national economy. In fact, unemployment is both a cause and a consequence of poverty. Therefore, the vicious cycle between unemployment, low income, low savings and poverty continues.
On the one hand, the industry has not been developed in the country. On the other hand, the youth workforce is not prepared for the skilled work needed in the country. If industries were open in the country, no one would have to worry much about employment. Work would be available everywhere. It would not only increase employment, it would have a positive impact on the market. It also contributed to the production of other goods and services. The country has not yet created an environment to open up business. The existing industries should also be discouraged. As a result, young people are forced to go for foreign employment without finding employment in the country. Young people who are forced to go for foreign employment sometimes have accidents in factories, sometimes in the field of house construction, on the road due to lack of knowledge of occupational safety while working abroad. The state has not been able to bring a concrete law in this regard.
Due to the inability of the job market to absorb and attract the active labor force and intellectual talent, brain drain and labor migration have reached an extreme level. The news of the closure of 539 campuses across the country was announced last June due to the high number of students going abroad for higher education. According to the Ministry of Education, in the last fiscal year, more than 100,000 students took ‘No Objection’ certificates to study abroad.
When young people leave, it is natural to raise questions about the future of the family, society and country. It will not take much time for the development of the country if the labor, skills, zeal and energy of the youth are used properly. But if the state fails to understand this, it won’t take long for youthful zeal to turn into resentment and crime. Rising unemployment will further increase conflict and crime in society. If they cannot be managed, the peace, stability and progress of the country will be challenged.
Unemployment problem has emerged as a major challenge in the economic sector. Although labor force is considered essential for economic growth, the unemployment situation has increased due to lack of ability to use all labor force available in the labor market in both formal and informal economic sectors. Ultimately, it is this unemployment that has had a negative impact on the efforts made so far for economic growth and will have a similar negative impact on future efforts.
Among the many causes of unemployment, the job attitude of the unemployed is one of the root causes. Although there are many grounds to become self-employed based on their educational qualification, competence or senior professional experience or skills, youth unemployment and especially educated unemployment has taken a dire shape due to the tendency to take jobs.
As the first priority of the educated is to become a job, the employment opportunities available for self-employment in the fields of agriculture and domestic and small industries are being neglected. Due to the development of the culture that educated youth should not touch the plow and spade, on the one hand, the shortage of manpower in the agricultural sector is increasing, while the pressure of manpower seeking employment in the service sector has increased, and the unemployment situation has become dire.
