New US Ambassador to Nepal proposed

US President Joe Biden has nominated Dean R. Thompson as the new US Ambassador to Nepal. According to the White House, Biden has offered to appoint Thompson as the new Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs.

As a diplomat, he has served in various positions at the State Department for over 25 years. He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and at the US Embassy in Romania.

He is currently working as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the South and East Asia Department of the Ministry of External Affairs.
