The Taliban will allow all teenagers in Afghanistan to study
Although US-led military operations in Afghanistan ousted the Taliban in 2001, the group has been steadily gaining ground and regaining control of Afghan territory.
Girls and adolescents were frustrated that they have been denied access to school, even months after the Taliban took power. But now their wishes is going to be fulfilled. As the Taliban will allow all girls to attend secondary schools in Afghanistan next week.
“Schools are being opened for all children,” Education Ministry spokesman Aziz Ahmed Ryan told Reuters. But even if girls are allowed to come to school, they have to follow certain rules, Ryan said.
According to Ryan, female teachers will have to teach girls separately. But in rural areas where there is a shortage of female teachers, older male teachers could teach girls. He said.
Before this, girls felt that the government has violated their right to education by depriving them of secondary schooling. Under the Taliban’s rule, teenagers could not dare to speak out against the government.
