Eighth day of Russian invasion of Ukraine: Increased attacks on major cities

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues for the eighth day in a row. Russia has intensified its attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, and major cities. According to the BBC, Russian forces have intensified their offensive to seize the port cities of Kherson and Mariupol and the northeastern city of Kharkiv.

The United Nations says 752 civilians have been killed and 498 Russian soldiers have been killed in Russian attacks in Ukraine since March 1.

Local officials in Mariupol said the Russian attack had caused a large number of casualties. However, no details have been released, according to international media.

The World Bank has suspended all its projects in Belarus and Russia in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The United Nations says about 900,000 people have fled Ukraine as Russian forces expand their offensive in the country. Of those, 450,000 Ukrainians have entered Poland, according to Poland. Similarly, more than a million Ukrainians have arrived in Hungary.
