Bringing electric bus for testing in the first lot

Public transport will bring electric buses for testing in the first lot. Public transport supervisor Hariram Mishra informed that three electric buses will be brought for testing.

Sajha had called for bids on March 29 and increased the number of 40 electric buses before the process. CHPC has won the tender after nine Chinese companies submitted bids for the purchase of the bus. CHPC has been selected for the financial and technical evaluation.

The LC has been opened a month ago to bring buses through the company. As per the agreement, the company will have to pay Rs.451.11 million for 40 electric buses and 20 chargers and Rs.67.365 million for spare parts including training and five years of maintenance. Along with 40 buses, Sajha has said that it has taken forward the process of purchasing four bigger electric buses.

It is believed that the electrification of public transport will help the country’s economy by replacing the growing use of imported fossil fuels with indigenous energy. Therefore, he emphasized that the use of electric bus will continue to increase in the coming days.

It is said that electric buses will be extended to other parts of the country besides Kathmandu with the help of federal, state and local governments.
