Orange production is increase in Tanahun this year
Orange production has increased in Tanahun this year. Compared to last year, the production of oranges has increased by 15 percent this year.
Chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Center, Tanahun, Kul Prasad Tiwari, said that the production of oranges has increased this year due to late ripening and good rainfall. “According to the monitoring done in different places of the district and according to the farmers, the production of oranges has increased this year,” he said. “Farmers of the district have been earning a decent income by selling oranges.” Last year, the district produced 8,000 metric tons of oranges. Most of the oranges produced are exported outside the district. The oranges produced in the district are sold in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Narayangarh and other places. Apart from this, oranges are also sold in Damauli, Dulegowda, Khairenitar, Bhimad and other places of the district, say farmers. It is estimated that Rs. 240 million worth of oranges will be distributed from the district this year.
Suknarayan Shrestha, Bishwa Bahadur Adhikari, Nirmal Adhikari, Ram Bahadur Adhikari and others have been selling oranges worth millions of rupees annually. The Bandipur municipality has also declared a pocket area to increase orange production. This has made the farmers excited. Village Municipality Chairman Purna Singh Thapa said that a pocket area has been declared for commercial orange cultivation in Kafalaswara of Bandipur Village Municipality-6.
The production of oranges is around Rs. 2 million annually. After being declared as a pocket area of oranges, the aim is to increase the production of oranges here annually
