18,000 quintals of paddy is being procured

Parsa: The Birgunj branch of Food Management and Trade Company Limited is going to purchase 18,000 quintals of paddy this year. 15,000 quintals of gold mansuli and 3,000 quintals of fine cumin paddy will be procured.

According to Munilal Kushwaha, information officer of the office, the order and quota for procurement of paddy has been received from the center only on Sunday. This time, the purchase price of Sona Mansuli paddy is Rs 2,902 per quintal, he said. This is the support price set by the federal government.

The purchase price of Jira Masino will be determined by the local primary procurement committee headed by the Chief District Officer. The committee has four members including the head of company branch office, head of agricultural knowledge center and representatives of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The purchase price will be decided after the Agriculture Knowledge Center and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry give their opinion on the current market price in the meeting of the committee. Kushwaha said that the procurement of paddy will start from January 22 or 23 after completing the necessary process.

He said that there was no delay in the procurement of paddy this year as the farmers of the district had recently planted paddy and the paddy had dried up. Farmers from Parsa and Bara bring paddy to the office for sale.
