‘It is the responsibility of the state to guarantee energy’

Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has clarified that ensuring public access to energy is the right of the citizens and it is the responsibility of the state to guarantee energy.

Inaugurating a seminar on ‘Sustainable Operation of Micro Hydropower Projects in Nepal’ organized by the National Micro and Small Hydropower Consumers Society Nepal here today, she said that the people’s participation in Nepal’s power development was exemplary in the world. She urged that for the sustainable operation of small and micro hydropower projects constructed at the community level, they should be included in the central transmission line and move towards it as it would increase the economic status of the community or private sector investors.

We will now extend the central transmission to all parts of the country as much as possible. In case it is not possible immediately, the government has taken steps to ensure the right of the people to clean energy through alternative energy technologies like solar energy and micro hydro power, ”she said.
