Dividend activity in microfinance companies: 35 companies announced, how much of which?

Listed companies have a lot of dividend announcement, book closing and general meeting. As per the regulatory provision, the annual general meeting shall be held within six months of the commencement of the current fiscal year. However, dividend proposals and meeting dates of many listed companies are yet to be decided. So far, 35 microfinance companies listed in Nepse have offered dividends from the last fiscal year’s profit.Book-closing and general meeting dates of many of the companies offering dividends are yet to be fixed, while some companies have already held general meetings.

The dividend rate of many microfinance companies has increased compared to last year. So far, women microfinance companies have been paying the highest dividend among the companies declaring dividends. It has announced that it will pay a total of 50% dividend from last year’s profit to the investors with 47.50% bonus share and 2.50% cash dividend. For the purpose of general meeting and dividend, book closing date has been fixed on 15th December.

National Microfinance has also been the second largest announcer of dividends. It has announced a 40% bonus share from last year’s profits and a 5% cash dividend for tax purposes with a total dividend of 45%. However, its book close and general meeting date are yet to be decided. The dividends of the other six companies are above 30% while the dividends of the remaining 27 companies are below 30%.
