Senior Economic Adviser to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Upreti

The Ministry of Finance has appointed Dr. Surendra Kumar Upreti as the advisor to the ministry to the finance. A meeting of the cabinet on Thursday decided to appoint him.

Finance Minister Jananardan Sharma has appointed him as the senior economic adviser. Earlier, when Sharma was the energy minister, Dr. Upreti had given him special help.

 Dr. Upreti has studied the rising costs of entering the WTO and its impact on revenue and the economy. He has also worked as an economist for the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) feasibility study on behalf of California-based Tetratech.

He has also worked as an economist for big projects like Budhigandaki Hydropower Project and Nalsinggad.

Tribhuvan University Professor Dr. Upreti is also an economic expert of the Karnali Provincial Council of Ministers.
