Domestic flights become more expensive due to Festivals
Badadashain, the great festival of Nepali Hindus, has arrived. Due to the increase in the number of passengers going home to celebrate Dashain from various urban places including Kathmandu Valley, the pressure on air services and vehicles has increased.
At this time, common people are in a hurry to find air and vehicles. Ticket booking is also going on for road and air travel.
In the case of air travelers, since it is not possible to carry more passengers than the seat capacity, many people book tickets in advance to secure seats rather than for fees. Airline companies have said that about 90 percent of air ticket bookings for various destinations have been completed.
Along with advance ticket booking, domestic air service provider companies have also increased ticket fares. Due to the fact that many passengers search for and book air tickets to go home during the festival, the fare also increases.
However, when there are regular flights and normal weather, the ticket price is cheaper.
Ticket prices vary depending on the airline and destination. All airlines including Yeti Airlines, Buddha, Shree, Sourya and other airlines have increased fares for various destinations. Tickets are more expensive during Dasain than during regular flights.
Air tickets from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi are the most expensive when going home during Dasain. It is more than 17 thousand for that destination. The minimum to go from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi is 11 thousand rupees. At other times, i.e. when there were regular flights, it was only 6-7 thousand rupees.
Surkhet is the second most expensive domestic flight ticket from Kathmandu. The minimum for that destination has reached 11,000 to 15,000 rupees.
Similarly, from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, the minimum has gone up to Rs 6,000 to Rs 14,000. On the other hand, for Kathmandu-Simra, which is the shortest distance from Kathmandu, it has reached 4,500.
